Privacy Policy

Effective September 20, 2026

This policy explains how the operator of TranscriptYT ("we," "us," and the "Service") handles personal information. For privacy questions or requests, email support@transcript-yt.com.

Information we collect

Account and sign-in data: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile image, and Google account identifier. We store the authentication records needed to provide your account. We never receive or store your Google password.

API keys: We store a SHA-256 hash of each API key, never the plaintext key. The full key is displayed once when created and cannot be recovered later.

Usage and security data: For every API request, we record the video ID, requested language, response status, cache status, response time, and proxy-bandwidth measurements. We process IP addresses to rate-limit sign-ups and the anonymous web tool. This helps us provide the Service, enforce quotas, prevent abuse, and diagnose faults.

Service content: When you submit a URL, we process its video ID, requested language, caption response, and associated metadata such as title, author, channel ID, duration, and available languages. We cache results to make repeat requests efficient. Do not submit confidential or sensitive information in a URL or API request.

Payment data: If you subscribe or buy credits, Dodo Payments handles checkout. We do not receive or store card numbers. We receive billing details needed to provide access, including your email, plan, payment or customer identifiers, subscription status, and payment-event records.

Cookies, local storage, and analytics

We use essential authentication cookies to keep you signed in and local storage to remember your analytics choice. If analytics is enabled, we use PostHog only after you accept the optional analytics prompt. We also use Sentry to receive technical error and performance reports. You can decline optional analytics in the banner; clearing this site's local storage lets you make the choice again.

How we share information

We use service providers that process data only as needed to run the Service: Google (authentication), Dodo Payments (billing), Upstash (caching and rate limiting), Neon (database hosting), Vercel (application hosting), PostHog (optional analytics), and Sentry (error monitoring). These providers may process information in countries other than yours under their own terms and privacy practices. We do not sell or rent personal information.

How long we keep information

Account, usage, and security records are generally kept while your account is active. Payment records may be retained longer where needed for accounting, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. Redis transcript caches expire after seven days; database cache entries are treated as stale after 30 days. Backup copies can persist for a limited period under our providers' retention practices.

Your choices and requests

You can revoke API keys at any time from your dashboard. Subject to records we must retain, you may request access, correction, or deletion of your account data by emailing support@transcript-yt.com. We may need to verify that you control the account before acting on a request.

Google and YouTube

Google sign-in is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC. The Service is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the Service or provide personal information if you are under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
