Terms of Service

Effective September 20, 2026

These terms govern your use of TranscriptYT (the "Service"), a hosted API and web tool for working with caption/transcript data from YouTube links. By creating an account, using the web tool, or calling the API, you agree to these terms.

Independent service and third-party rights

YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC. The Service is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google. Mention of YouTube does not give us or you any ownership of YouTube content, trademarks, or services, nor does it grant permission to use third-party content.

What the Service does

The Service attempts to return caption-track data for a submitted YouTube link as structured text (JSON, plain text, SRT, or VTT). It does not download video or audio. Availability, completeness, language coverage, and accuracy depend on the source and may change without notice.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for ensuring you have all rights, permissions, and legal grounds needed to submit a link, retrieve data, store it, and use or distribute any output. This includes complying with applicable copyright, privacy, and platform terms, including YouTube's Terms of Service. Do not use the Service to circumvent access restrictions, violate third-party rights, harm source infrastructure, or offer raw access to the Service for resale.

You are responsible for keeping API keys confidential. Revoke a key immediately if you believe it has been exposed. Usage on an exposed key is billed to your account until you revoke it.

Accounts and API keys

An account is created via Google sign-in, which is subject to Google's Terms of Service. Paid plans have a request quota per billing period and a limit on active API keys, described on the pricing page. The Free plan includes a one-time trial allowance; it does not renew monthly. Paid-plan quota resets on a rolling monthly window from when the current plan started or last renewed.

Billing, cancellation, and credits

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance in USD through Dodo Payments, the merchant of record for these transactions. Taxes and the final price presented at checkout are handled by Dodo Payments. You can cancel a paid plan from your dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid billing period and access continues until then. Except where required by applicable law, we do not offer partial refunds for unused time in a billing period. If a payment fails or a subscription is cancelled or expires, your account reverts to the Free plan.

One-time credit packs are available only on eligible paid plans. They are used after plan credits, do not roll over, and expire 60 days after purchase. For a billing question or refund request, contact us with the relevant order details.

Availability and changes

The Service depends on third-party systems and source availability, which are outside our control and can change without notice. We aim for high uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service when reasonably necessary.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that abuse the Service, violate these terms, attempt to circumvent rate limits or quotas, or create risk for us, our users, or third parties. You can stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time by contacting us.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, TranscriptYT is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service or its output. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
